The Home Builders Institute is the workforce development arm of NAHB. The Home Builders Institute is dedicated to the advancement and enrichment of craft education and training programs serving the needs of the housing industry.
For more than 30 years, the Institute has helped NAHB members address the need for qualified employees by training skilled workers in residential construction, promoting the industry as a career, and providing craft, technical, and professional personnel to America’s builders.
The Home Builders Institute offers:

Trades training and job placement services through its Craft Skills department and programs on Job Corps campuses.

National online job bank offering free resume posting for job seekers, and job listings at substantially reduced rates for NAHB employer members.

Craft training in profitable skills such as carpentry, electrical wiring, brick masonry, plumbing, painting, landscaping, and facilities maintenance.

NAHB student chapter programs that complement academic programs by giving students NAHB membership and exposure to the "real world" of residential building.

School-to-career programs to help state and local associations establish partnerships with local educational systems.

Workforce development assistance to help state and local HBAs learn how to design and implement workforce training programs in their local communities.

The Residential Construction Academy Series includes textbooks, multimedia materials and on-line resources in a new and complete trades training program based on standards developed by NAHB members and educators
