The homebuilding industry’s leading national magazine Professional Builder has selected custom homebuilder Simonini Builders, Inc., a Charlotte, NC-based company with divisions in North and South Carolina, as the nation’s BUILDER OF THE YEAR for 2006.   The Builder of the Year designation is considered the highest individual company recognition in the homebuilding industry.  

With divisions in North and South Carolina, Simonini Builders is the first custom homebuilder in the nation to ever become Builder of the Year nationally.

In the December 2005 cover story “A Custom Revolution,” Professional Builder magazine reports that “careful hiring, an obsession with quality and deep integration of systems have made this North Carolina custom builder [Simonini Builders] a world-class innovator.”  

The Professional Builder story continues to say that “Simonini Builders, Inc. (SBI) has done to custom building what Deep Blue did to chess.  This North Carolina-based firm has used information technology to change the definition of ‘custom.’  Home building may never be the same.”

The story continues to explain that Simonini Builders’ co-owners “Alan Simonini and Ray Killian, Jr. have converted a good company into a great one by leaning on the strengths of their employees.”  Highlighted are the company’s decisive strengths, which contributed to the company’s being selected Builder of the Year – “fierce employee loyalty, sales volume rivaling a mid-sized production builder and customer satisfaction ratings 13 percent higher than FedEx.”

On Wednesday, Jan. 12, during the International Builders’ Show in Orlando, Simonini Builders will be officially awarded Builder of the Year 2006 at a special awards banquet in celebration of industry excellence, to be held at Universal Studios.  Professional Builder Magazine will present the award.  Accepting the award on behalf of Simonini Builders will be Alan Simonini and Ray A. Killian, Jr., co-owners of the company.
