If you had 15 minutes in front of the NCHBA membership, what would you say about membership recruitment/retention?

I personally feel that membership is the backbone of every local chapter.  Without new members, the organization would slowly become stagnate.  With the continuous recruitment of new members brings fresh ideas, enthusiasm, and makes for a great working association.

Recruiting new members into an organization that you really believe in is not hard to do.  In fact, it’s hard to understand why anyone that is associated in the building industry is not a member already, from the car dealer that sells trucks for the builder, to the communications company that sells the cell phones or two-way radio’s so that the builder member may contact his clients or subs.  There are hardly any professions that do not, in some way, touch the building trade or, some phase of it.

To recruit a new member, is to give someone an opportunity to grow and improve their business, along with being a part of one of the most professional organizations in the community.

Retention is important for maintaining your membership.  Keeping members involved in local projects or association meetings and events will keep members from slowly drifting away.  The association must have something beneficial to all types of members, not just builders.  The Associate Member joins the NCHBA in an effort to support the builder and the building industry, as well as, increase awareness of the products and services that the Associate Member sells.
