The North Carolina Home Builders Association (NCHBA) has named Garry Lipson of the Alamance-Burlington School System the 2006 Construction Trades Teacher of the Year. Lipson, a Construction Technology Teacher at Graham High school, prepares students physically and mentally to make them valuable in the workplace. His classes are taught in a real-world format with Lipson being the employer and his students the employees. He ensures that students develop not only construction skills necessary for the workplace but also interpersonal and communication skills. A high number of his students gain employment in the construction industry after graduation.
