Last Minute Tips for Attending the International Builders' Show
This really is THE BIG SHOW! With more exhibitors (1900!) and pre-registrants than any International Builders' Show in history, the 2007 Show promises to be the best yet. To help you plan for the Show, here are some helpful tips:
1.
Plan Your Visit-there's a lot to see and do and you'll get more out of the Show if you make a plan. The updated My Show Planner allows you to add education and special events to your schedule and make a note of booths you don't want to miss.
Education session handouts sometimes run out. If there's a particular session you want to make sure you get a handout for; you can download the Education session handouts, for those sessions that have them, starting on February 7th.
4.
Consider renting a car for after-hours activities. But to cut down on convention center traffic, take one of our complimentary Shuttle Buses to the show.
Purchase discounted Orlando area Attraction Tickets in advance-you'll save both time and money.
7.
Giveaways galore! Prizes totaling more than $1 million in value will be given away at The Show. Attend, Register, Win!
8.
Look for Find It! kiosks located throughout the convention center. Use these machines to locate education sessions, exhibitor booths and special event locations. Plus we have Cyber Centers located in both the West and South Buildings, including the South Building Theme Center, so you can stay connected to your home and office.

Labor Department Urges Business to Apply for Safety Awards
The N.C. Department of Labor is now accepting applications from businesses interested in applying for a workplace safety award.
Safety awards are given to companies that have above-average worker safety and health programs.
"A safety award shows employees and the community that you are committed to a safe work environment," state Labor Commissioner Cherie Berry said. "A good safety record is something to be proud of, and businesses deserve to be recognized for their efforts."
Businesses that qualify for the award must meet two requirements. They must be free of fatalities at the site for which they are applying. The site's injury and illness rate also must be at least 50 percent below that of the industry's average rate.
Award recipients will be honored in their communities at a safety awards banquet hosted by the N.C. Department of Labor.
For more information on the safety awards program or to complete an application, go to the NCDOL Web site, www.nclabor.com, and click on "Safety Awards Application."

If You Wanna Run With the Big Dogs - You Gotta Get off the Porch!
A letter from Dave Stormont, North Carolina Home Builders Educational and Charitable Foundation Inc. 2007 Chairman
Every year NCHBA puts together a golf tournament, usually in the Spring, open to any and all association members and their guests, in order to create proceed revenues to fund the Association's Scholarship Program. The event is a blast and just keeps getting better each year and at the end of the day, the resulting scholarship dollars are a blessing to many of our own members and their families.
This year, as in years past, the major sponsor will be Builders Mutual Insurance Company. We all are so appreciative to BMIC for its leadership in this annual tournament and look forward to a great time again this year. Your Executive Committee member in charge of this annual tournament is once again Darrell Patterson, who, along with Deborah Alford from our staff, did an incredible job last year. Darrell and I were brainstorming at the end of 2006, coming up with a few ideas which might make the tournament even more fun, and knowing that most of our builder and associate members are very shy and unassuming (yeah - right!), we decided to create a "bragging rights tournament" - a "we're the baddest team in the state tournament" - a "you wanna piece of me tournament? We are going to call it "The President's Cup" and here to see how it works, click here.
