Foundation awards $10,500 in scholarships
The North Carolina Home Builders Educational and Charitable Foundation is pleased to announce that eight students are recipients of $10,500 in education scholarships for the 2011-2012 school year. Students were nominated by members of the North Carolina Home Builders Associations and are family members (i.e. children, step-children, or grandchildren) of NCHBA member firms.
The scholarship awards are presented annually to four-year college students entering their junior or senior year or two-year technical school students entering their second year who have declared a construction-related major. Scholarships are based on a combination of need and merit. Preference goes to students attending college or technical school in North Carolina.
The following students each received $3,000 scholarships:
Jeremiah Gilbert
Majoring in Building Science and Appropriate Technology at Appalachian State University
Son of Odie Gilbert, a member of the Ashe Co. HBA
Zach Isenhour
Majroing in Civil Engineering at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte
Son of Greg Isenhour, a member of the HBA of Durham, Orange and Chatham Cos.
Marty Needham
Majoring in Architecture at N.C. State University
Member of the Surry Co. HBA
The following students each received $1,500 scholarships
Tyler Brooks
Majoring Construction Management at Appalachian State University
Son of Tony Brooks, a member of the Cleveland Co. HBA
