NCHBA organizes and sponsors events each year that serve a dual purpose. Each one fulfills a specific service to benefit our members, and many of them serve to raise money to help cover operating costs of the association so that dues can be kept low.
Each year NCHBA hosts the Carolina Builders Conference (CBC). This multi-day event is designed to inform, connect and inspire North Carolina’s home building industry. Highlights include more than 30 continuing education classes from the North Carolina Builder Institute (NCHBA’s education program), a Housing Forecast Breakfast, and a Leadership Conference component that prepares local HBA executive officers, board members and others to serve effectively.
In conjunction with the Carolina Builders Conference, NCHBA hosts the prestigious STARS Awards. The STARS Awards program honors the achievements of builders, associates, realtors, media and advertising professionals, and many others who make major contributions to the residential home building industry. Design, building and marketing projects are submitted earlier in the year and then judged by experts in the industry. The culmination of the competition is a gala event where the winners of these awards are announced. For more information about the STARS Awards, contact Maureen Mullen (mmullen@nchba.org).
Each spring the Builders Classic Golf Tournament is held to raise funds for the NCHBA Educational and Charitable Foundation. These funds are used to provide scholarships to college students majoring in a construction-related field.
Throughout the year, the association holds its Quarterly Board Meetings. At the 1st, 2nd and 4th Quarter meetings, there is a day devoted to committee meetings of the association. See the list of committees for the kinds of meetings available. Of special note is the 2nd Quarter Meeting in May/June, when members go to the General Assembly in Raleigh to visit the offices of their Representatives and Senators. This event is key to reinforcing the efforts of the NCHBA Governmental Affairs team during each legislative session.
Each year, NCHBA’s Senior Officers and staff dedicate a week to host eight Regional Meetings at locations across the state. These meetings bring the state association directly to members and local HBAs, offering executive officers, local leadership and members the opportunity to connect with NCHBA and learn more about its work.
