Benefits of Membership

If you are involved in the home building industry, we invite you to join the North Carolina Home Builders Association (NCHBA).  To become a member of NCHBA as a builder, associate or affiliate member, you must join the local home builders association serving your area.  When you join your local association, you automatically become a member of all three levels of the NAHB federation: local, state and national.  That’s three memberships for the price of one!

What is in it for me?

NCHBA is a dynamic group of builders and associate member firms across the state who pool information and efforts to provide the collective clout and muscle the home building industry needs…for self protection, for the benefits of its members, and for the protection of home buyers.  By meeting together, sharing ideas and mobilizing efforts, NCHBA contributes to the economic growth of each individual member.

NCHBA plays a key role in helping maintain consistently higher industry standards of conduct, quality and ethics.  Membership in NCHBA helps crystallize collective opinions…in order to effect change in Congress, the N.C. General Assembly, the courts and regulatory agencies.

If you are home builder or a supplier to the industry, the representation you receive from NCHBA through its affiliation with the National Association of Home Builders is vital…vital to your interests, your needs and your survival in America’s largest industry.

The following are other benefits of NCHBA membership:

Professionalism—NCHBA works to uphold professional business standards. Promotion of ethical practices benefits the building industry, the consumer and the community.

Educational Programs—The North Carolina Builder Institute is the educational arm for the NCHBA. The Institute provides classes for the professional builder and associate. Held in the Spring in Raleigh and in the fall in conjunction with the 21st Century Building Expo & Conference, builders and associate members can find a variety of general interest seminars, ranging from marketing to OSHA Regulations and building codes.

Legislative and Regulatory Representation – As your advocate in Raleigh and on Capitol Hill, the association constantly develops and provides top notch legislative and regulatory representation on behalf of the home building industry. NCHBA monitors the activities of the N.C. General Assembly affecting the home building industry and recommends desirable changes, and opposes undesirable changes, in the law.

Discounts—NCHBA members are eligible for rebates through two programs: the NCHBA Member Rebate Program and the NAHB Member Advantage Program. Click on the links to learn more about these programs.

NC BUILD-PAC – NCHBA has developed a nonpartisan political action committee that supports the elected officials and candidates who stand behind our industry. The BUILD-PAC committee makes sure that your personal contributions are wisely spent by constantly monitoring and assessing candidates’ policies on housing.

InsuranceBuilders Mutual Insurance Company is endorsed by the NCHBA to provide all commercial lines of insurance coverage to its members. Their WorkSafe Workers’ Comp is known as the industry standard and offers features such as job site evaluations to help prevent workplace accidents and injuries. BMIC experts help you create the safest working environment possible and offer ongoing education and training. Partnered with WorkSafe, their Builders Best policies round out all the coverage those in the residential building industry need. 21st Century Building Expo & Conference—This event was created so members of NCHBA could attend and participate in an Expo and educational conference of the same quality as the NAHB International Builders’ Show (IBS), but not have to travel to a remote location. The 21CBEC offers members the opportunity to view new and innovative products for housing and to attend seminars on various aspects of the building industry. Seminars highlight a wide range of topics which would appeal to the builder, associate, remodeler and the sales and marketing professional. In addition, the STARS Awards Gala offers members a chance to earn industry recognition for their work. The 21CBEC has become the fastest growing trade show in the Southeast.
