Dear Mr. Martin,

I am writing to express my concerns with the proposed 2024 energy code changes. Please consider that these new requirements would add approximately $20,000 to the cost of the average new home in North Carolina. This cost increase will price out more than 102,500 potential homebuyers and worsen housing affordability. This proposed code would be harmful to both buyers and builders and have a crippling effect on the housing industry in North Carolina.

Please reconsider this harmful energy code proposal.
