The NCHBA organizes and sponsors events each year that serve a dual purpose. Each one fulfills a specific service to benefit our members, and many of them serve to raise money to help cover operating costs of the association so that dues can be kept low.
The largest event each year is the 21st Century Building Expo & Conference (21CBEC). The 21CBEC is the Southeast’s premier trade show dedicated to the building industry. It is held each fall in Concord, NC, and provides the largest expo floor in the region and by far the largest selection of trade-related courses and seminars in the Southeast to be found over a couple of days in one location. For anyone involved in the building industry in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, or Virginia, this is a must-do event. You need to either be exhibiting or attending. If you do, you will be ahead for it!
In conjunction with the 21CBEC another major NCHBA event is held annually, the prestigious STARS Awards. The STARS Awards program honors the achievements of builders, associates, realtors, media and advertising professionals, and many others who make major contributions to the residential home building industry. Design, building, and marketing projects are submitted earlier in the year and then judged by experts in the industry. The culmination of the competition is a gala event where the winners of these awards are announced at a themed dinner.
Each spring the Builder Classic Golf Tournament is held to raise funds for the NCHBA Educational and Charitable Foundation. These funds are used to provide scholarships to college students majoring in a construction-related field. If you would like to sponsor this tournament or play in it, please contact Tracie Garrett in the NCHBA office (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Throughout the year, the association holds its Quarterly Board Meetings. At the 1st, 2nd and 4th Quarter meetings, there is a day devoted to committee meetings of the association. See the list of committees for the kinds of meetings available. Of special note is the 2nd Quarter Meeting in May/June, where a Legislative Reception is held on one evening and the following day attendees visit of the offices of their Representatives and Senators in Raleigh. This event is key to re-enforcing the efforts of the NCHBA Governmental Affairs staff in the General Assembly all year.
