NCHBA 2nd Quarter Meeting Highlights Legislative Advocacy Alongside Member Engagement

Members of the North Carolina Home Builders Association (NCHBA) gathered in Raleigh on May 6 for the association’s 2nd Quarter Meeting — a full day that included committee and council meetings as well as a strong focus on advocacy at the state legislature.

One of the key themes of the day was the association’s legislative agenda. With one of NCHBA’s top legislative priorities up for a vote in the House: Housing and Development Committee, a group of members traveled by bus to the North Carolina General Assembly in support of HB 765 (Save the American Dream Act).

NCHBA members filled a committee hearing room in support of HB 765 (Save the American Dream Act).

Meanwhile, other attendees participated in committee and council meetings that guide the association’s work in areas like education, building codes, membership and communications. These smaller group sessions are where members collaborate on initiatives that benefit the industry and their local associations.

Legislative Reception at The Merrimon-Wynne House

Later that evening, NCHBA hosted its annual Legislative Reception at the historic Merrimon-Wynne House in downtown Raleigh. This popular event welcomed state legislators and policymakers to meet with NCHBA members in a relaxed, social setting.

The reception offered members an opportunity to continue conversations that began earlier in the day, build relationships with lawmakers and share firsthand how proposed legislation impacts the home building industry.

Advocacy Day at the NC General Assembly

The following day — Wednesday, May 7 — local home builders associations (HBAs) from across the state, along with NCHBA’s senior leadership, visited the North Carolina General Assembly to meet with legislators and advocate for the industry’s top priorities. These face-to-face meetings are a vital part of NCHBA’s grassroots advocacy efforts, allowing members to speak directly with their elected officials about the real-world impacts of proposed legislation.

Thank you to all the members who made the trip to Raleigh and continue to support the work of NCHBA. Your involvement ensures that our industry remains strong and well-represented across North Carolina.
